Good decisions begin with listening and engaging. Timnath already makes strong efforts to share information by publishing materials on the town website, sending surveys, and notifying residents about council meetings and public hearings. These tools are essential, and they reflect a genuine commitment to transparency.
Where I believe there is an opportunity to build further is in complementing these efforts with a stronger emphasis on encouraging participation. Making information available is only part of engagement. Residents also need context, clarity, and reassurance that their input matters and can influence outcomes. Without that connection, important information can be overlooked or feel disconnected from everyday life.
Engagement is most effective when residents understand why an issue is being considered, what decisions are forthcoming, and how their feedback fits into the process. When people see the relevance of their involvement and feel invited to participate, they are more likely to engage early rather than after decisions are already underway.
I believe in engaging residents first and planning thoughtfully. By pairing transparency with encouragement and clear communication, the town can better align its policies and actions with community needs while balancing competing interests and practical realities. Early engagement helps surface concerns, strengthen planning, and build trust, leading to decisions that reflect both responsible governance and community priorities.
My goal is to support an approach where engagement is not just available, but actively encouraged, helping residents feel informed, confident, and empowered to participate in shaping Timnath’s future.
